Cruz control

img_0510.JPG

“Nicky Cruz was running wild on a one-way street to the electric chair and hell!   Millions know him from The Cross and the Switchblade as well as his own book Run Baby Run.  Nicky Cruz shares his full life story on this special record. ”

Nice primitive painting of a multiple murder juxtaposed by the sunny, smiling face of former JD, born again Cruz.   Kids do the craziest things sometimes.

Sounds to make you shiver

img_0504.JPG

Cover design: Stuart Kloner

Most interesting about this is that this obscure kid’s sound effects record cover was adopted by the British ska band The Specials for the cover of their 7″ single, Ghost Town released in the UK on the Two Tone record label, catalogue number CHSTT17.

Side 1. Night in a haunted house Side 2. Witch laugh. Maniac at work. Screams. Screams and groans. Moans and groans….

This is the original on Soma Records out of Minneapolis (better known for garage band guitar hits like “Surfin Bird” by the Trashmen).   A Pickwick reissue with a cartoon illustration on the cover is common.

Play “Mack the Knife” again!

img_0506.JPG

I’m assuming that these guys are in a band that has a record in the juke box and not just four happy Germans agreeing on what song to play next.   But I’m not sure.

Sax Appeal

img_0501.JPG

I love this type of cover.   The girl, the sax, the animal skin rug.   The color. The style.   The title.   Even the label RELAX.   Made in Holland.
