The music couldn’t be any more real and from the heart, but MGM’s art department seemed to be okay with pasting a cut-out of Hank Williams (and his dog?) on generic country background. And not well – notice that his foot doesn’t seem to be resting on anything.

Jazz arranger Benny Golson (leader of The Jazztet) left Philadelphia for Los Angeles and became a successful TV and Film soundtack composer and producer. In this mid-sixties concept album, he offers hip takes on the catchy commercial jingles of the day.

This would seem to be an outtake from the photo shoot, but it’s moody and intriguing. Is the model waiting for “inspiration” between shots? Warm color and soft back lighting and shadow make this a really elegant cover on the South American RCA label. Orquestra Tipica “La Plata”

There are a lot of actual play by play records of the greatest moments in sports. This is a particularily cool one put out by Chesterfield cigarettes. Russ Hodges calls the game and the ninth inning home run by Bobby Thomson that beat the Dodgers in 1951.
