The happy hooker
Rugger Ditties “The First XV Sing Rugby Songs” Summit Records 1965.
This one is courtesy of lp cover lover, Andrew Flynn of Chandler, Arizona who writes “This was in my uncle’s collection from college (late 60’s). That’s Ann-Margret on the cover. It’s just a bunch of guys singing songs in what sounds like a pub. Not great – the cover was the best part. Apparently “First XV” is a rugby (and sometimes soccer) term meaning “first team”. “
And your bird can sing

I Had A talk with A Daisy , Skylark, Idle Gossip.
(JACKIE PARIS, vocal; NEAL HEFTI, leader, arranger; BILLY TAYLOR, piano; SANDY BLOCK, bass; ED GRADY, drums; GEORGE BARNES, guitar; HARRY BRAUER, vibes; plus 10 strings.)
I love this song. Gene Ammons does a nice instrumental version, but everyone has done it. Johnny Mercer wrote the words (allegedly for Judy Garland with whom he had an affair) and Hoagy Carmichael wrote the music. It was published in 1942.
Skylark
Have you anything to say to me
Won’t you tell me where my love can be
Is there a meadow in the mist
Where someone’s waiting to be kissed
Oh skylark
Have you seen a valley green with spring
Where my heart can go a-journeying
Over the shadows and the rain
To a blossom-covered lane
And in your lonely flight
Haven’t you heard the music in the night
Wonderful music
Faint as a will o’ the wisp
Crazy as a loon
Sad as a gypsy serenading the moon
Oh skylark
I don’t know if you can find these things
But my heart is riding on your wings
So if you see them anywhere
Won’t you lead me there
Oh skylark
Won’t you lead me there
Didn’t I blow your mind this time?
