George Jessel “Bedtime Stories for Grown-Ups” Riot Records. Jessel was born in Harlem and was once a bat boy for the New York Giants. Once the vaudeville partner of Eddie Cantor and Walter Winchell, he appeared often on the Johnny Carson and Jack Parr show and this album is an answer to the many requests from around the country to finish the stories he could not tell on TV in their entirety. George was given the title of “Toast Master General of the United States” toast mastering functions for Franklin Delano Roosevelt and Harry S. Truman. Cover Art Work by : Burt Portnoy & Bob Ghiraldini
Alan Dean Sings “Music to Bawl By”. Apex Records. Album designed by Olshan & Michelson.
“Music for Happy Occassions” Paul Pincus and his Orchestra in High Fidelity. Mercury Records.
“Music for People with Two Left Hands” Dave Nault at the Baldwin Organ.
“Music for Morticians” “Les Pallbearer and His All-Ghoul Orchestra” This has to be one of my rarest records. I believe it was made as a goof by guys working in the design department at Capitol records Who knows how many were made. It’s dated on the label 1951. I’m assuming it’s them in the cover photo. I wonder who they got to be the corpse?! I’d love to hear from anyone who might know anything about it, though I imagine that’s unlikely. Still, a great cover and right in the spirit of our obsession.
