He appears to be portraying happiness. In a not particularly naturalistic way. I’m not sure how convincing he is, his happy dance could be interpreted as being sarcastic. The applause of his pals doesn’t appear to be sarcastic, although it could be. There’s probably some terrible psychosexual back story which I’m probably better off not knowing.

To be with his friends, Paul told his boss he needed Friday off. His boss replied, “if you don’t make it Friday, don’t bother coming in Monday”.
Paul thinks he’s getting a four day weekend.
