“I’ll Never Be Afraid” by the Gospel Rythm-Aires. A superior example of outsider, DIY cover art. Beautiful in its simplicity and naivete. Mixed media here all comes together for a doomsday message of hope, faith and salvation. See the ghostly figure of Jesus in nature craddling the band as Armeggedon hits the big city.
“A Velha Guarda” on Sinter Records. Wow! What a sweet cover from Brazil in the fifties.
Jimmie Janes, MD and his orchestra plays – “Music For Dancing Doctors” (Editors Note: VIP is the incredible, fantastic illustrator Virgil Partch. Check him out. I’ll be posting more of his lp cover work here too. Thanks, for the note Ben T.)
James Brown and his Famous Flames “Try Me!” King Records A collection of James Brown’s earliest R&B singles from 1959.
This is one in a nice series of lps called “Sound Stories” which features races, racetracks, racers and cars around the world. This one is the 17th Monaco Grand Prix 1959. Beautiful art here.
“Come sit a spell” Joe Pelham’s Outhouse II (Sequel to “That Wonderful Old Two Holer”).
This was unearthed at a salvation army up in Maine. $.59 later here it is courtesy of Calvin, another lp cover lover: “Here is a cover called OUTHOUSE II. “The Shack is Back” more tales, poems, and songs about a classic rural-Maine subject.“
