Lenny and Squiggy Sing
A spin off product from the hit seventies TV series “Laverne and Shirley,” Lenny and Squigley made this forgettable record by “Lenny and the Squigtones.” Lenny is Michael McKeon of “Spinal Tap” fame. Squiggy is David Lander who cut his comedic teeth with McKeon (and Tap co-star Harry Shearer) as a member of the comedy troupe “The Credibility Gap” which put out a few records in the late sixties and early seventies.

This album also features Christopher Guest, who later joined McKean in Spinal Tap (and still later in the Folksmen from A MIGHTY WIND). As a matter of fact, this is the first time Guest used the name Nigel Tufnel, the name of his Spinal Tap character.

This is indeed the genesis of Tap! What a great find. I remember seeing it in the early 80s in a delete bin and passing it up. I was a punk rocker at the time and this likely made my stomach turn.
