Thee Muffins “Pop Up!” (1966) Private pressing; only 200 or so manufactured, “FOR FAN CLUB USE ONLY”. “10 Hits By One Of The Fastest Rising Groups In America”
I Feel Good/Calija/Not Fade Away/Crying Over You/Oh Poppa Do/Surprise Surprise/You Got Love/Don’t Let The Sun Catch You Crying/Do You Love Me/I’m Comin’ Home
I have seen 8 copies of this for sale (I guess leaving 192 unaccounted for), with prices ranging from $35 to $295. It would be interesting to know how much LPCL influenced that…certainly there are cases where a forgettable disc gains a new (and incomprehensible) mystique after exposure like this — think “Jesus Use Me” which few people likely ever heard of before it turned up on LPCL, or “Stormy Weather” by the 5 Sharps after the master was lost and only 5 or 6 copies were ever located.
This is a super cool album cover! I recall seeing a mention of this album on a thread somewhere, where it was said it’s listed in come book of “the most collectible” or raest, or something like that.
I have also seen the “200-300” production number mentioned in a couple places, but all of them say it the same way…like they are parroting. So I wonder about a true source for that.
I think I’ve seen maybe 5-6 of these listed for sale over time, and half of them were signed…always by the lead guitar player Walter “Bat” Condi. But web searches don’t yield much of anything about what became of the band, personal bios, etc.
Thing is, if they weren’t successful, then the majority of the albums — wehatever the number originally was — probably found a dumpster.
Love, LOVE the artwork on it. And “Thee” as if it’s olde English.
Let’s hope he’s kidding. It’s interesting, following this and other albums it makes me wish there was like a sales tracker on the site. It would let you view upvoted titles by market price over time giving insight into collectability.
Honestly though, to have Viggo Mortenson (top right), Dana Carvey (center), Norm McDonald (bottom left), Elon Musk (top left) and Dana White (bottom right) all in one super group…is just unreal. Sadly Norm wouldn’t make the reunion tour…

Nothing too ambitious, save maybe the name.

A waltz in the same vein as “Heart Of Stone.”

I’m confused. The name of the band is “Three Muffins” but there’s five of them. They are the anti- Ben Folds Five.

Maybe this will spark a revival so they can work with one of today’s acts. Imagine “Megan Thee Muffin.”
Isn’t her muffin what her big hit was about, anyway?

That’s not Dana Carvey, it’s David St. Hubbins.
