Tony’s got it (but I want it)

“I’ve Got It”  The Singing Parkers  Gospel Key Records (Bakersfield)   I love the dramatic lighting on the sisters’ cascading curls, their intense gazes, their shiny dresses, their heads held high in the brilliant glow of a divine presence.

Another great “hair piece” find from LP Cover Lover founder and master vinyl archeologist Tony Valenti.

I did a little poking around. Something slightly unusual: This act released not just one, but two(!) albums. As you know, sophomore efforts for music of this genre on tiny homegrown labels are not very common. Anyhow, their other album has a much (unintentionally) funnier title, that makes it sound more like a potty training record than a gospel LP: https://www.discogs.com/The-Singing-Parkers-Ive-Got-To-Go/release/4794675

I got it once, but with the help of antibiotics, I got over it.

“Honey, I bought you a suit for the picture. It’s a little big, but I’m sure you’ll grow into it. It was left over from something called ‘Harold and Maude’; I don’t know what that is, and it had some funny stains on it that I had to clean up, but it was cheap and it’s hardly even been worn!”

Looking at their identical chins, there’s no question they have the same father. The same man who gave that kid one of his old suits.

The higher the hair, the closer to heaven? Seriously, WTF is is it with the HAIR? is there some phrase in the bible that says “Thou shalt wear massive HAIR, as it pleaseth the LORD.”? If there’s one common thread through all the christian record photos it’s HAIR!

Maybe it’s of a piece with other religions’ headcovering rules. It’s the Christian woman’s turban. 😀

Actually I think the massive hair is because a lot of fundamentalists believe a woman should have very long hair, but letting it down is something you only do for your husband.

This is apparently one of those girls:

Sally Parker Ayers. I guess you have to be in their fold to see the attraction of this kind of performance. Personally, I find it unlistenable.
