Two cool Decca sleeves from South Africa in the early 60’s. Paul Evans on one and Carl Dobkins, Jr. b/w Brenda Lee on the other! I didn’t know Paul Evans, but discovered he recorded Midnight Special (which I knew well as a CCR song). Brenda’s “Sweet Nuthin'” is a fave. Check her out Here!

Paul Evans’ best known song as a recording artist was the novelty “Seven Little Girls Sitting In The Back Seat” (“…kissin’ and a-huggin’ with Fred.” As a songwriter, he co-wrote Bobby Vinton’s “Roses Are Red,” the Kalin Twins’ “When,” and Ray Conniff’s “Happiness Is” (the Kent cigarette jingle.)
