The Deuce Coupes The Shut Downs (I’m not sure whether the group here is The Deuce Coupes or the Shut Downs.) Crown Records A budget label that specialized in hot rod releases, this one features studio session man Jerry Cole, sax solos, some anonymous vocals and racing engines.

Probably both! Several songs to the ‘Coupes, the rest to the ‘Downs, not unlike the MGM “Beatles with Tony Sheridan and Guests” album that featured six Beatles and Beatles related cuts and six by the Titans.
While I am quite familiar with the fate of the Titans and their semi-successful move into NFL football and Sheridan’s wildly successful hotel chain, I think MGM missed the boat in not signing Sheridan’s backing band, which showed some potential.

ALL the Crown hot rod/surf LPs were one-man operations by Jerry Cole. As he has put it, “music by the pound’.
