Valeria “O Travesti” Macambo Records Brazil “Les Girls” b/w “International Set”
Turns out (no pun intended) that Valeria (née Walter Fernandez Gonzalez) was a hit mid-sixties hit on Rio nightclubs (this record was made in Recife). Like many fellow transvestites, sHe made her pilgrimage to Paris, where eventually married a wealthy gentleman, one of the heirs to the Mediterranée chain of luxury hotels. Back to Brazil in the nineties, sHe staged some comeback shows in Salvador, to some moderate success and then to oblivion. Here sHe sings, surprisingly, some pretty standards old time sambas.
