Vanusa is a blond singer from the 70s that (un)balanced between plain kitsch and pompous MPB. Her main hits were about the solitude of a clown, a love letter she couldn’t dare opening and something that goes like: “Atop the Corcovado, who stretches the arms is me [not Christ], and the parallel skid rows on the rain water are naked roads where you run from what is yours”. (It doesn’t make much more sense in Portuguese, either).
Most interestingly, Vanusa was all over internet recently when someone posted a pathetic video in which she was supposed to sign the national anthem in a grave ceremony but did a great mess with the lyrics and the melody.

Here’s THE internet meme in Brazil: Vanusa butchering the national anthem.

Over 2 million views and counting. (I realize it is not that fun if you don’t know the Brazilian anthem).
