sRw – I don’t know if Them were copying the Stones, per se, this was just a graphic style that was in vogue at the time at Decca, Deram, and London Records at the time – probably others as well. I remember seeing the the early Them, the Stones, and maybe the Birds (not the Byrds) all in the style. There’s probably many more I’ve never seen. But they are beautiful.
Decca used a lot of photos taken by their in house photographer David Wedgebury (responsible for The Who’s “My Generation” U.K. LP sleeve pic) for their U.K. LP/E.P. sleeves. He often used the same back drop/locations for multiple bands so it wasn’t uncommon to see the same back drop or props with different acts. I’m with Tim B. these E.P.’s would make a great series!

Hey…I posted about Them very recently. I love these Decca & the Deram sleeves from the sixties. Someone (hint, hint) oughtta do a series of them.

i agree with Tim B. on this. Them is taking a page from the Rolling Stones book of angry looks and minimum wording on their sleeves. Ugly is IN.
