The Wishniks Nursery Rhymes and Songs Little World of Records This is the band’s original lineup (before the drummer”s tragic candy cane choking death). This album is still considered to be their most accessible work.

I never heard the name Wishnik, just knew them as Trolls. Check out their follow-up LP: http://www.flickr.com/photos/potatopotato/183176831/

@ rp: Those guys have gone by various names. I remember they were called Norphans when I was very young. (Presumably the name referred to their Norse heritage and their status as “orphans” that needed to be “adopted.” (Cabbage Patch Kids and Pound Puppies used that same manipulative tactic years later.) I think they began as a toy based on wee folk from Finnish lore, who were probably all related to wee folk from the region around the Baltic Sea, hence the Russian “-nik” added to the end.
