Oil in the family

Na Voz de Agnaldo Rayol  Copacabana Records  Another example of the cover-on-the-cover in this oil painting of a family listening to their own, to-be-released, record.  Check out the little girl – she’s got some attitude.

A random aside:  He looks a little like Aristotle Onassis or the Shah of Iran.

Your right… he does look like a combo of the two and she’s got those pearls like an early Jackie O. but looks more like the “Lady Bird” on a good day…YUK!

  2. #2 Childish says:

He looks even more like Mr. Whipple or Kissinger.

Kissinger seconded. And what’s up with that kid’s forehead?

  4. #4 #4 From Brazil says:
    March 10th, 2009 at 11:07 am

The man on the cover is the president of Brazil, general Arthur Costa e Silva, who ruled the country under the military dictatorship from 1967 to 1969. The “Lady Bird” look-alike is his wife Yolanda. I don’t know about the little girl. The title of the album is “As Minhas Favoritas – A. Costa e Silva – na voz de Agnaldo Rayol” (or something like “My Favourite Songs – A. Costa e Silva – sung by Agnaldo Rayol”).

Thanks for the reality check #4. I always love to set the record straight.

That’s hilarious! (Not being a dictator, but painting yourself in on an album cover just because they’re your favorite songs!) The singer isn’t even on the cover?

Man, that’s outrageous. I know Agnaldo Rayol from his extra-loud operistic Italian canzione. And it turns out he is a class-a butt liker! Costa e Silva was simply the most villain of the five generals that rotated as president in the spurious 1964-1984 regime in Brazil. He is the one who started torturing people. He is the one who implemented the AI5 law, which allowed the government to arrest people just for expressing their opinion! He expelled nearly all of the great composers in Brazil!

I hope he is roting in the deepest of hells right now and Rayol is blaring fortissimo in his ears non-stop.

    Also not unlike Enzo Ferrarri:
