The other characters look like a combination of, “The Groovy Goolies and the Way Backs”. If you what I’m talking about, you are crazy… like me.

This used to be posted at a blog called “Mostly Ghostly Music Sharing Blaaahhhggg!!!” but it’s gone now.

“The Monster Shindig” is a great number.

I remember the Groovie Goolies and even have a worn out VHS that I bought at a garage sale for a quarter. This is a really cool looking album.

The Greusomes predated the Groovy Ghoulies by six years (1964 vs 1970)

Great record! Daws Butler does the voices. The song ” Monster Shindig” is done by Danny Hutton, who before had the hit, “Roses and Rainbows and You” and then went on to be one of the three singers in Three Dog Night.

I have a copy of this and while the cover is gorgeous, compared to the other HB albums I have, the actual story/writing on this one is pretty weak. I wish it were otherwise.

Another great one from my childhood that I listened to over and over. If they released these late greats on CD, I’d run out and buy them just for nostalgia’s sake.

Can anyone here help settle a dispute? My wife states that she remembers seeing this on television as a cartoon special and I say it was never made into a cartoon. We own the album which I had as a child but would like to know if she is correct or if I’m correct. Thanks.

@ John Rammage: Realize I’m late in the game, but you are correct. The story and songs were recorded specially for the album. Throughout the series, there was a great use of the music and sound effects from H-B’s library.

Now, contrary to Bob D.’s summation, the uncredited voices on the album were Paul Frees and June Foray. Not only did they voice Super Snooper and Blabber Mouse, respectively, but all the other characters in the story.
