Also called Guayo, Guira, Ghicharo, Rayo i believe

didn’t know there was an umlaut in güiro- some sort of norwegian death-latin instrument

    … and it’s pronounced “gooey-raw” :-)

    Hehh hehh.

NB- ’tis not shaken but rather ‘raked’ with a stick. I guess ‘Rake that Thing’ is less spectacular.

For those in need of a commonly-available example, see the intro of Steely Dan’s _Do It Again_.

Thanks for the correction and the Steely Dan reference — I’ve heard it a thousand times and not known. Hmmm, I guess I do need a new title.

    Shake N’ Rake… that’s perfect!

    He’s raking and she’s shaking.

… nice set of bongos lady. ;-)

    Sometimes…. a güiro is just a güiro.
