“Get a Life” (John 3:16)

img_0751.JPG

‘What The Bible Says About Flying Saucers’ by one Rev. Bud Spriggs and issued on Nashville’s World Wide Records. Rev. Bud Spriggs called himself the ‘Chaplin of Hell’ a title he received from the Mayor and City Council of Hell, Michigan (according to liner notes). The opening dialogue sees Bud in fine UFO Shtick form complete with canned laughter on the non-existent punch lines. Hear these tracks on WFMU’s “On the Download”. Norman Granz’ JAZZ CONCERT #1. Norgran Records. David Stone Martin illustration. Jazz represents both the highest level of artistry and sophistication as well as humor, whimsy and wit. DSM captured that playful, inside joke of the music with his fun and and equally sophisticated style.

Suites for my sweet

Tchaikowsky on the Brazilian Masterpiece label. The International Symphony Orchestra Conducted by Alexandre Schnederhann.

“How can one express the indefinable sensations that one experiences while writing an instrumental composition that has no definite subject? It is a purely lyrical process. It is a musical confession of the soul, which unburdens itself through sounds just as a lyric poet expresses himself through poetry… As the poet Heine said, ‘Where words leave off, music begins.’ ” Piotr Ilyich Tchaikowsky
