Early Seventies rock compilation on Atlantic (Brazil). Some odd inclusions here including songs by “Pollution,” “The Unemployed,” “Shotgun ltd.” and “Naza III” (?) Maybe someone can can shed some light on those groups (Desiderio?)
Fellow coverlovers, I’m sorry I can’t help you much on this. To begin with, I was convinced this was not a Brazilian record, for Atlantic (and Warner) never played a big role in the record scene here and I wouldn’t advice someone to title a record in Brazil “Beat, baby, Beat”. But I googled out and it proved me wrong.
Then I tough this could belong to that age in the 70s when some Brazilians would compose in English under an American moniker (the most famous being Mark “Feelings” Alpert). But I was wrong once more. Google tells me “Shotgun litd.” was a ephemeral early-70s Californian group, but could not shed light on “Pollution”, “The unenployed” and “Naza III”. I guess they were the Atlantic Director’s nephews (our “nieces”).
If you have reached this far… Happy 2009 – Yes, we can!
This is a basic ’70s Atlantic records compilation. Naza III is the Nazz, who’s album ‘Nazz III’ was released through then Atlantic subsidiary Ampex. The Nazz featured Todd Rundgren. Pollution was a European band that Atlantic had in other territories, but not in the USA. I believe they might’ve also been on the UK Harvest label at some point. Shotgun Ltd. was a US soul band, I believe, who did one album for Atlantic. Aside from the Unemployed (who I’ve never heard of) the rest were all Atlantic/Atco/Cotillion/STAX artists from that era (early ’70s).
