I have this record! it’s from the south-western Ontario area… If you read the liner notes, in a strange broken English, you’ll see that he’s got more going against him than a lack of hair and sight… he’s missing many fingers -hence the title.
George Jenner was a friend of our family. He was a stunningly gifted man who overcame a litany of challenges and lived a fulfilling, exciting life. He was a highly-demanded piano tuner (no mean feat in and of itself); he could play numerous musical instruments; owned and operated a successful piano store; and was constantly in demand as an organist, pianist and music arranger.
George and his wife were close friends of our family, and my first part-time job was at his piano store in Cambridge. I have very fond memories of him playing the piano during Christmas gatherings and my extended family singing along!
George and Margaret were my customers between 1990 and 2002 when I sold them keyboard bags and accessories. To hear George play was amazing, to know some of what he had overcome in life to accomplish that and become a piano tuner and businessman made his story that much more remarkable. Sadly I left the industry some time ago and I only learned of their passings today. I can find very little about George online, but I believe he spent his final years in the Flesherton area. It would be nice if those who knew more of him would compile some details so he could be properly remembered in perpetuity, perhaps by the Candian music industry, maybe MIAC.
I have to tell an incredible story …in 1995 I was living in kitchener Ontario and i wanted to buy a keyboard … I remember calling George Jenner music to inquire about a keyboard and I want us to get the address of his store to come and look at one…He told me he could come to my home if I wanted with the keyboard to try it out.
I never expected that ,but I said sure why not..
I remember a van pulled up to my place and a man and woman got out, and the man had a keyboard and the lady was leading him into my place… I realized then the man was blind… The very pleasant man then introduced himself and said ” hi my name is George “.. I invited him in with the keyboard and he sat down and asked me if I wanted him to demonstrate the features of the unit .. , I said sure … What I saw was a blind man, with most of his fingers missing on each hand, playing this instrument so beautifully I was astounded….needless to say I liked his demonstration and purchased the keyboard ..
I never forgot about this and it brings a tear to my eye every time I think about it,.. and after all these years,
I’ve always wondered what happened to this man… it’s obvious from the comments I’ve read , he has since passed away… I think God has a special place for a man like him that’s all I have to say…sheridan
Thanks for this. George Jenner was employed by my grandparents to tune their upright Bell Piano that still resides in my parents basement. My mother has fond memories of playing this record, and having mr Jenner over to tune the family piano at home. Always remarking how efficiently he played for someone with so few digits and how he was able to tune just by ear!

I remember being dazzled at the sight of this man playing the organ when I was a young child at the piano store in our local mall.
You could immediately recognize his gift…even before he set his fingers on the keys. The confidence…. The poise….

Is George still around? I used to cut his lawn when I was a kid. Nice guy, quite a piano player

I worked for George in the early 80’s moving him and his Organ to play at functions, as well as delivering or picking up piano for his store.
George and my father were friends in their early 20’s.
I miss George and his wife Margret.

Sadly, both George and Margaret have passed away.
