The Marvelous Marvelettes
The girl groups of the sixties had so much style and the Marvelettes, one of the great groups of Motown, not only made great soul records (“Here I Am Baby,” “Don’t Mess With Bill,”” Please Mr. Postman,” etc.) they always looked cool. This best of compilation is from Holland.

That was possibly the only halfway decent women’s fashion in the 60s-the mini ballgown. Because when seated it actually LOOKED longer and that was the trouble with minis-they looked bloody comical
And finally Tamla Motown is no longer ashamed of showing photos of its artists on the sleeves- the first Marvelettes LP showed a drawing of a post box in what could be considered more racist than ever nowadays-the same as the derogatory term “colored groups”-you weren’t supposed to say black

To reply to Richard Astley-Clemas, I understand your point about what was and wasn’t shown on album covers of the day, but the Marvelettes actually may have been an artistic choice. \Hi, We’re the Miracles\ features the group very prominently on the cover from the same year as Marvelettes (1961) and \Meet The Supremes\ from the following year features the group.
What better serves your point of view are the covers on the site here:

As for the cover above, the dresses are fine, but they do rather looks as if they are shielding themselves from something.
