David Whitfield  “Alone”  Decca Records (UK)  (1961) He was the first UK male vocalist to earn a gold disc; the first to have a hit placed in the Top Ten of the Billboard Hot 100; and the first artist from Britain to sell over one million copies of one disc in America!  Not bad if you have to be alone.

Grey hound

Jeff Chandler Sings TO YOU   Liberty Records (1957)   Chandler was an academy award-nominated supporting actor (playing an American Indian in Broken Arrow) who took a shot at singing.   He died in 1961 at just 42 years old (tragically from malpractice in a botched back surgery).     Oh, and Esther Williams said he was a cross-dresser.
