“A great way to live…a tragic way to die” Thanks, Earl Nightingale. Reminds me of those drivers ed. films that scare you straight. I think the fatal mistake was breaking out the accoustic guitar and singing the complete Air Supply songbook. That just pissed God off.
“Macumba” on the Brazilian Sinter label. This is one of the most amazing covers. A real voodoo ritual complete with the rooster blood letting, the live snake, the priestess and her pipe and most disturbingly the man in a trance licking the blood from his hand. I’m spooked to even be writing about it. Curses!
Liz Lyons “Up Your Ass” Live at the Club Monacco (1975) This one is signed on the front: “To Debbie and Vaughn, Enjoy me. – Liz Lyons” From the liner notes above (yes, I thought you should see the rear): The critics rave: “When this kitten lays one on you, you know you’ve been laid…on” and “I laughed so hard I fell off my wife and broke my arm.”
“The Incredible C.V. Polk – His Voice and Fourteen Flying Fingers. Arwin Records. From the liner notes:
Editors Note: “A memorable experience monaurally…it becomes a shattering reality in stereo.”
Accountants note: “I strongly recommend that this album be purchased in huge quantities.”
Owners note: “I’m with you baby!”
“Le Piano Diabolique” d’ Alain VIAN. Contains a smokin’ hot version of “Yes Sir, That’s My Baby” and the scorching “No, No, Nanette”.
This Mustafa guy was a real funny cat. He put out lots of wacky covers like this one.
