Lenny and Squiggy Sing
A spin off product from the hit seventies TV series “Laverne and Shirley,” Lenny and Squigley made this forgettable record by “Lenny and the Squigtones.” Lenny is Michael McKeon of “Spinal Tap” fame. Squiggy is David Lander who cut his comedic teeth with McKeon (and Tap co-star Harry Shearer) as a member of the comedy troupe “The Credibility Gap” which put out a few records in the late sixties and early seventies.
The Green Hornet
The Green Hornet (1966-67) was one of my favorite shows as a kid. With the young Bruce Lee as Kato. The swinging, soundtrack is by the great Nelson Riddle. The original theme song played by Al Hirt was used in tribute to Lee in the climactic fight scene of Kill Bill.
Mad Monk
A French Barclay release of early Prestige sessions. Thelonious Monk the composer and pianist is one of the archetects of modern jazz. See the Clint Eastwood produced documentary “Straight, No Chaser” for a moving portrait of the artist and reclusive genious later in his career.
