The happy hooker
Rugger Ditties “The First XV Sing Rugby Songs” Summit Records 1965.
This one is courtesy of lp cover lover, Andrew Flynn of Chandler, Arizona who writes “This was in my uncle’s collection from college (late 60’s). That’s Ann-Margret on the cover. It’s just a bunch of guys singing songs in what sounds like a pub. Not great – the cover was the best part. Apparently “First XV” is a rugby (and sometimes soccer) term meaning “first team”. “

First XV is *NEVER* a soccer term!! XV is of course the roman numerals for 15 : the number of players in a rugby union team. It would be First XI for a soccer team, but since the usage “First N” is a bit of a posh school usage and they don’t play football at posh schools, First XI usually refers to the top cricket team.. Then you get the Second XI, the Third etc. etc.

That’s not Ann-Margret. First off, this girl’s face looks nothing like Ann-Margret’s. Second, in the late ’60s, Ann-Margret was one of the hottest stars in Hollywood. (“Bye Bye Birdie” came out in 1963.) You really think that in 1965, she’s going to be posing for the cover of “Rugger Ditties”?

You think this is something.
See what happens when she goes for soap on the locker room floor. SCORE!!!

I hear the NFL – National Felony League – will strike after Super Bowl 44 is played between the Saints and Colts? Go a head and we’ll just learn how to play RUGBY and tackle this bodacious ta ta, without helmits!
Saints – 31
Colts – 26 (The scum-bags that snuck out of Baltimore at midnight!)
