Save my soul music

I bet the “Reverend in Rhythm” Father Robert White can really bust a move when he gets off the pipe.

You should see how much this baby goes for on Amazon.com!
It’s insane!! They have two listed, one for $9,999.00 and the other for $10,000.00, no joke either. Go check it out. It’s terrible.

to be fair, the $9,990 version is just in “acceptable” condition. why treat yourself to a first state sealed stereo butcher cover when you can get a scratchy version of the rev singing “tiny bubbles”?

But still, I’ve picked up records just as rare or more for under $80. For example, I just got Little Richard Miller’s “Jesus Use Me” for $75, and Denise Klahn’s “Singing for Salvation” for $16, not to mention the Blind Slye Twins “It’s Me Again, Lord” and “No One Has Ever Loved me like Jesus” both for $40 each. $10, 000.00 for an LP is insane. Is it made of gold or something?

i asked the seller if the $9.990 price tag was a joke and he said:

“Ha, yeah, it’s pretty ridiculous. I really have no idea what the record is worth, but the other one listed is priced a bit higher than mine. I can’t imagine it’ll sell at this price, but I just base my prices on the price of other copies of the same item listed. Were you interested in this record?”

maybe there is a butcher cover underneath it.

Ah, I sent him an email too.
I haven’t got an email. I would really like to buy it.

and at $9,990 what do you think does? charges $2.98 for *shipping*!

  9. #9 Tatum says:

    It’s really ridiculous.

I discussed this exact LP and situation on RYM.

A lot of people agreed with the pricing.

has anybody on the blog said *why* it would be so valuable? the issue here is that the second seller had no idea what to charge, saw the $10k and decided to undercut it by $10, and *his* posting got distributed all over the internet in shopping sites. so all the sites saying $9,990 are actually for just the same copy of the Lp. i sincerely *doubt* this another “stormy weather” legend we have going on here.

To be honest, an LP that has been around since the early 60’s maybe late 50’s, can’t be in that good of condition, and if it is, Wow, just wow. I still don’t think the LP would be worth more than $70 at most, maybe $100. But if we’re going into Richard Miller type pricing, for example “The Many Voices of Richard Miller” was listed on Musicstack for $475 by 3 different sellers, and then $50 by one. The 3 that had it for $475 said it was in VG condition and opened, the one I got for $50 I was told it was sealed, and in mint condition. I recieved the LP and felt I had underpaid due to the fact the LP looked like it had just came off the press. Nevertheless, this is one of the LPs I want to obtain.

unless father white later became pope (which he didn’t), i suggest the Lp may not even be worth $10 in any kind of degraded condition. there is a significant difference between “scarce” and “valuable.” i have little doubt this Lp is scarce.

  14. #14 Tatum says:
    October 6th, 2011 at 9:48 am

Well, I’ll try to get it for as cheap as I possibly can.
Although I’m more interested in finding Larry Adams – The Suns Coming Up

  15. #15 sRw says:

also note the $10,000 entry is described as:

“USED book, some wear from reading and creases.”

    another indication it’s a goof.

  16. #16 Tatum says:
    October 6th, 2011 at 12:34 pm

I’m pretty sure the $10k one is ran by a robot or something as it’s replies all were very bland and stuff.

  17. #17 sRw says:

at this point, the guy probably already got an offer from nigeria, to be paid with a money order for $12,500 telling him to cash it and keep the $2,500 overage for his trouble.

  18. #18 Tatum says:
    October 6th, 2011 at 12:55 pm

    That would be outrageous.
