Suffering is the prelude to grace

February 22nd, 2012 in Real People with Real Problems by lpcoverlover | 14 Comments

“No Crippled Girls in Heaven”  Lanita Eversole  A touching, heartbreaking home recording of little Lanita of Winchester, KY, who writes on the back cover “It is a privilege to try to bless you by singing just for you.  I’ve been through a lot of pain and sorrow all my life, but the Lord has always been with me.  I’ve been through about 13 major operations and I’ve been wearing braces on my legs about all of my life and like the song i sing … “There Won’t Be No Crippled Girls in Heaven,” and when I get to Heaven, I won’t have to worry anymore about pain or sorrows and Oh How I Love Jesus!”

    Headline says so much!

“I’ve been through a lot of pain and sorrow all my life, but the Lord has always been with me.” So why doesn’t he cure you? Or why did he let you get crippled in the first place?

No Nana Mouskouri glasses in heaven!

Are you people actually making fun of this little girl. Sick.

I guess I don’t really expect my comment to make it through “security”. You’re welcome to poke fun at believers all you want (though you seem to enjoy laughing only at Christians…no one else), but laughing at a little handicapped girl? You should be ashamed of yourself. Sicko!

I don’t think anyone here is making fun of this little girl. At least that wasn’t the intention of the original post. Though Mr. Folks does seem to take issue with her glasses.

@Lyle while we LPCLers certainly won’t be accused of being overly PC, there is a serious side to many of the frequent posters, and lpcoverlover himself as well. see comments on “there’s only one ‘i’ in denise” if you doubt this. and to be sure, the point is to find humour in the LP covers themseleves, not the misfortune of the people depicted on them (well, unless the artist’s name is “whoopee” john wilfahrt — that’s just plain funny).

Dave Bailey was clearly mocking not only her faith, but her as well.

BTW, don’t get me wrong. I love this site, including the “country-Christian” covers. They’re just plain funny with the hair and such, but a little girl who finds solace in her faith. I just can’t see the humour in that.

my own take on the dave bailey comment is that its just another form of the age-old paradox of “if there is a God, why is there suffering?” in which case all i can suggest is that he consult the book of Job. just sayin’.

Veterans fought and died for American freedoms – especially the 1st Amendment of the U.S. Constitution – and Don Rickles used to be my favorite, along with the Dean Martin Celebrity Roasts in the 70s…
Today the USA has gone upside down morally and in being politically correct.
I am positive that Jesus even laughed with His apostles…
Laughter is in the eyes of the beholder…. AMEN!

Going through thrift stores looking for LP’s (especially ones in Pennsylvania for some reason) there was never a shortage of really creepy (in the “John Wayne Gacy” sorta creepy) Christian music LP covers in those bins! Insert “Sideshow Bob” shuddering noise…………….
