    When I worked at Tower Records in the 1980’s, CD’s were just starting to usurp LP’s in the racks and reissue labels like Rhino and Fresh Sound were nudging the majors to re-release some of their older material. MCA reissued this with a faceless, color-laden mess of a cover, but it did allow me to buy it, after having heard bits of Nordine here and there on the radio. It’s a wonderful LP, but it also connects to another Tower memory. A well-informed man of a certain age saw the prices and was horrified (well within his rights), but then tried to haggle, in a chain retail store. “Julie London for $14.99? I’ll give ya four dollars for it.”

    What did he end up buying? The $3.99 reissue of this album on cassette.
