Willis Wade…too deep!

January 25th, 2007 in Hall of Fame, Incredibly Strange, Wanted Records by lpcoverlover | 14 Comments

There are lots of small regional labels that put out records like this. Many from the South with the featured artist in the gaudiest, most tacky, showbiz outfit. Often with the touring bus in the background. But this one that Tony laid on me out of the blue transcends the ordinary and defines the genre for me. Such is Willis Wade. Isn’t he fabulous!

Now I gotta find a copy. Anyone?

I met Willis Wade a few days ago at the Hendersonville, TN post office. He recognized me from my outdoor television show and approached me. I have never met a nicer man! He is in his winter season of life now, but seems to be very healthy and vibrant. He is still going strong with his music, and is helping a relative to launch a bluegrass / gospel theatre in Tennessee. The number on his business card that he gave me is 615-822-3021. Great guy!

Hello, Does anyone know if he is the same Willis Wade who does the song “Dope Addicts?” It is not on the album. Please go to Youtube and watch the Willis Wade “Dope Addicts” video. You won’t be sorry! Haa haa haaa!

I have an autographed picture of Willis Wade from back in the late 60s- early 70s (I think) when he was in Eau Claire, WI. And snap shot photos of his band at the time. Wondering if anyone is interested in buying them.
