A day in the park

This is a sweet kid’s record from Japan.   Half a world away in the U.S. King Records was putting out lps by James Brown and Little Willie John.

Shawl or nothing

This one has it’s obvious appeal and it’s no surprise it has avoided me. I look forward to finding a copy someday. It’s on the Japanese roulette label. (Don’t even know the artist)

A Sweet 16

Is she looking for the perfect song for the perfect tape compilation. This record is from Italy and is a 16 RPM record. In the forties and fifties turntables could play 78’s, 331/3’s, 45’s and 16 RPM discs. Radio stations used them and I think some of the Armed Forces V-discs were 16’s. I’ve seen some general release ones, but not many. Maybe they caught on in Italy.

Made in Japan

Another beautiful Japanese nude cover. I find it interesting that the models are rarely ever Japanese.

Before Young Frankenstein

Wow, in the swinging sixties London even Marty Feldman was a playboy. (My copy got water damaged yesterday when a pipe in the apartment above me burst. This really hurts. Hence the “wanted” tag if you see another copy.)

Motorcycle Man

Thanks for this cool one Otis!

“Buddy Mize. Obscure private press tribute to the kings of AMA dirt-track and road racing of the late 60’s and early 70’s. Wonderful “folk art” llustration on front I would kill for the original of. Total DIY piece from So-Cal. I found this missing the Lp so I have no idea what it sounds like, but from the titles it looks great. Most of the tracks are listed as “narration & theme” and are by Melva Murphy. Damn, I want to hear this! Anybody out there have a copy?” – www.otisrecords.com

Save my soul music

I bet the “Reverend in Rhythm” Father Robert White can really bust a move when he gets off the pipe.

Bed Time Music with Jayne Mansfield

img_0128.JPG

What a beautiful Jayne Mansfield cover from Japan. I collect Jayne Mansfield covers. There are maybe a dozen US covers (“Amor” and “Speak Low” being the best), but it’s always exciting to discover ones from other countries. Japan issued some other really great ones that top my “want list.”

Playing 45’s with Fluffy

anita.jpg

I found this online at another site like this one that shares record covers. I’ve never seen it, but given the little dog, the turntable and 45’s, the stuffed animal and the sixties girl with big hair laying on the bed…well I gotta get one!   Check out Dennis Catron‘s cheesecake collection!
