Oh, this is soo fake. The back cover has a nice C.B. dictionary along with photos of various models of C.B. radios available at the time.   Do you know what “Chicken Coops” are?   How about a “Roller Skate”? or “Eat-um-up”?   Negatory?   See below.   As fads go, in my lifetime, I preferred streaking.

(Ans: weigh stations; a small car; roadside diner)

No more long lines at the airport

flightfinal.jpg

This from Bob Selcoe of NewJazz Records: An absolute CLASSIC of the weirdo outsider genre – a “dramatic” comparison of death and heavenly ascendance using the metaphor of an airplane trip! It’s a recorded “play”, with a full cast, airplane sound effects, and “angelic” music provided by the Trevecca Nazarene College choirs. Brainchild of Evangelist Forrest McCullough, who wrote, produced and acts as “narrator”. Inspired while on an airliner the day following his father’s funeral. I can’t do justice describing it – you’ve gotta hear it to believe it! Original private-press with no label (surprisingly, it was later issued on the Word label).

Motorcycle Man

Thanks for this cool one Otis!

“Buddy Mize. Obscure private press tribute to the kings of AMA dirt-track and road racing of the late 60’s and early 70’s. Wonderful “folk art” llustration on front I would kill for the original of. Total DIY piece from So-Cal. I found this missing the Lp so I have no idea what it sounds like, but from the titles it looks great. Most of the tracks are listed as “narration & theme” and are by Melva Murphy. Damn, I want to hear this! Anybody out there have a copy?” – www.otisrecords.com

Pimp my crib

Johnny “Guitar” Watson was the original “Gangster of Love” and a godfather of funk. His records from the fifties were distinquished by his funky guitar (check out “Hot Just Like TNT”). This early seventies comeback lp featured the hit “A Real Mother For Ya” and a solid gold cover that defined ghetto fabulous for the stroller set. Buy this record and then get “It’s All About the Dollar Bill,” “Ganster of Love,” “Ain’t That A Bitch” and a great album with Larry “Short Fat Fannie” Williams called “Two for the Price of One”.

Lost in space

A Vespa in space on this “space age bachelor pad” lp featuring the “futuramic sounds” of Don Elliott. Weren’t the sixties sensational!

Down on Thunder Road

Amazing how many lps were put out with cool hot rod, dragster, car covers and the “sounds” of the racetrack. No music or anything, just the sounds of racecar engines, screaming tires and shifting gears and such. But the packaging shows some pretty cool cars that deserve a place in my cover collection.
