“A Velha Guarda” on Sinter Records. Wow! What a sweet cover from Brazil in the fifties.

These are the most important samba composers from early/mid 20th century, such as Pixinguinha, João da Baihana, Donga, Jacob do Bandolin etc. The caricatures were drawn by Lan, a very Carioca Italian who’s alive and kicking at age 83, drawing and painting his favorite subjects: Carioca women (sexy mulatto girls mostly) and samba.

that cover makes me think of Willy Smax’s great cover for Joe Jackson’s “Beat Crazy”.
