There were many beautiful nude covers on mainstream albums that were released in Japan beginning in the fifties with 10" records. In other countries as well -- Argentina, France, Italy, Holland -- nude cover photos, (not alway as artfully done as in Japan) weren't unusual. Of course in the puritanical America of the fifties and early sixties, any nudity was considered "dirty" and most label art departments had to rely on using seductive cheesecake poses and suggestive titles.
